Join us for a TGIF Screen Printing workshop and learn the fundamentals of screen printing for stationery! Each participant will walk away with their own hand printed cards and envelopes. We will experiment with layering, ink mixing, and collage to create pocket sized prints. This class is great for beginners looking to learn more about this simple yet versatile printmaking technique.

The class fee covers all screens, inks, and stationery products used in the class.

Come and experiment with advanced screen-printing technique! Watercolor monoprints are expressive, delicate ways to produce imagery. Students will create images and reproduce them to create a variable edition. Students will walk away with their unique print portfolio and an understanding of how to advance their printmaking skills beyond the conventional inks. While basic screen printing knowledge is helpful, previous experience is not required.

Printmaking with Natural Dyes: April 20-May 11, 2017

In this four part course, students will learn how to use natural dyes and screen printing techniques to create their own handmade projects. Each week, we will investigate the color available in the natural world around us, combined with modern printmaking techniques. Students will leave the course with a basic understanding of the principles of natural dyeing and fundamental screen printing knowledge.

For the final week, students will select from one of the following projects to incorporate their printed papers: notebook, art print, or notecards.

Poster Printing: April 8, 2017

Come learn how to create your own hand printed poster from start to finish!  Participants will design single-color stencils, learn how to use the exposure unit, and make their own screens. Together we will print our posters and experiment with layering, color mixing, and transparency.

Each student will walk away with their unique set of posters and a basic understanding of fundamental screen printing skills. This class is well suited for beginners or intermediate screen printers looking to gain more practice.

Class material fee includes limited supply of paper for each participant, inks, and screens.

Silkscreen Poster Workshop, February 27, 2017

Come learn how to create your own hand printed poster from start to finish! Students will design their own posters, create screens, and edition their prints. This class is well suited for beginners or as a way to expand your skill set if you have taken the previous stationery printing workshops at Polka. 

Class material fee includes paper for each participant (edition size 10 plus paper for practice/experiments), inks, and screens. Poster dimensions 12 x 18 inches.
